Service Learning

Second graders become contributing members of the community through service. In Life Skills, they learn the importance of being compassionate, responsible individuals. They are able to build on those character traits through monthly Service Learning trips into the community.  Second graders focus their service at The Haven in Charlotte.  The Haven is an assisted living residence designed for individuals with early, middle, and late stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia.  Students interact with the residents through games and activities.  Through magic shows, Irish dancing, and musical performances, the students enjoy entertaining the residents as well.
