Week of May 26

 

Monday- Off for Memorial Day!

 

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: We worked to complete all writing and publishing for our final project, "What is my role in the community?" We completed all work in our display boxes as well. Several of us continued reading a mystery from the A-Z Mystery series by Ron Roy.

 

 

Week of May 19

 

Monday

Social Studies: Today we will begin our last project of the year. It will focus on everything that we've learned this year and it will answer the Big Question: What is my role in the community? We will begin brainstorming for our writing portion today.

 

Homework for SS: bring in a shoebox by Thursday! If you have an extra, please send one in as well.

 

Language Arts: There will be spelling words this week that review the second half of the school year. Students will be given an A-Z Mystery Book by Ron Roy. They will read silently and they will play the role of book reviewer for the next few weeks.

Monday

Social Studies: Due to an assembly and visit to the C-Span bus on Thursday, we need to play catch-up today.

Language Arts: There will be spelling words this week that review the first half of the school year. We will play catch-up on our writing today due to an assembly and bus visit on Thursday.

Tuesday

Social Studies: We will finish up our discussion on our transportation timelines today.

 

Homework for SS: print out a picture of your President or First Lady for class tomorrow (it does not have to be in color)

 

Language Arts: We will work on spelling review today. We will try to complete all publishing on our mini-biographies today. We will also work in our reading groups again.

Social Studies: We will begin to practice for a presentation of our mini-biographies called the Presidential and First Lady Museum.

Social Studies: May is National Transportation Month. We will have a lesson on transportation for people today.

Language Arts: There will spelling words this week that deal with the "for" pattern. There will be Challenge and Bonus words. The Trouble at the Treasury reading group will have reading time today. The other group will continue writing their biography of a President or a First Lady.
