Fourth Grade Music

The primary focus in fourth grade music is to learn about music history and how to play the keyboard & piano. We continue with music history in fourth grade, and learn about the different music-art periods (Baroque, Classical, Romantic..). Students who already take piano lessons are evaluated and continue with their level of playing. For students new to the keyboard, we begin with basic hand technique and reading notes. Singing is a very important part of music class. We sing a variety of songs and accompany each selection with Orff instruments. Fourth graders continue their musical preparations for the annual "Christmas in Davidson" performance. Our goal is to work as a team in order to present an entertaining production for parents at Night of the Arts, the end of the year spring musical performance.
